This collection consists of correspondence, lawsuits, publications, reviews, and other writings related to Margaret Mitchell's novel Gone with the Wind. Most of the material focuses on copyright issues in other countries, along with a few in the United States. There are also several requests and correspondences with publishers seeking permission to print short biographies of Margaret Mitchell and reviews of her novel.

Biographical / historical:

Margaret Mitchell (1900-1949) was the author of Gone With the Wind, a best-selling book, published in 1936. Copyright soon became an issue as demands for foreign translations, plays, musicals, and sequels began. Shortly after the book's publication, the movie rights were sold to David Selznick. In 1937 Margaret Mitchell was awarded the Pulitzer Prize, and in 1939 the movie was released.
