The collection consists of one typewritten letter: dated November 11, 1949, "Dear Mr. Guilford," from Lillian Smith regarding Guilford's review of Killers of the Dream.

Biographical / historical:

Lillian Smith (1897-1966) was an author, lecturer, and human rights advocate, born in Jasper County, Florida, and resided in Rabun County, Georgia. Her best known fiction piece was the controversial 1944 novel Strange Fruit.
