George Anderson Mell (1852-1931) was a banker in Athens, Georgia. He married Bessie Rutherford (1855-1894), the founder of Athens Industrial Home (later Bessie Mell Industrial Home) in 1884. After Bessie's death, George married Lurene Howard and they had four children.
