Scope and content:

The collection consists of correspondence and typed manuscripts of Parks' writings, research notes, and tax materials. The correspondence is mostly between Parks, fellow critics, and southern literary scholars particularly those involved in the fugitive/agrarian movement. The collection also contains correspondence between Parks, his publishers, and editors as well as letters from his wife, Aileen Wells Parks.

Biographical / historical:

Dr. Edd Winfield Parks (1906-1968) was a literary scholar and a professor at the University of Georgia from 1935-1968. Dr. Parks received a bachelor's degree from Harvard and a master's and doctorate from Vanderbilt University. He served as a captain in U.S. Army intelligence during World War II.
