The collection consists of an account book of John Hamlin Newton from 1855-1858 and 1867-1868. Entries from 1855-1858 pertain to the Hart County Gold Mining Company and include amounts paid to workers; expense accounts for workers containing their names, items purchased, and prices; and charges for company supplies. Also includes a running tally of the company's total expenses for 1855-1856.
