The collection consists of miscellaneous papers of Alexander H. Stephens and Howell Cobb. Correspondences included are written to and from Stephens, and to Thomas D. Harris from Howell Cobb. Papers of the Confederacy included are a leave of absence request, payment of claims due to deceased officers and soldiers, and registered bonds.

Biographical / historical:

Howell Cobb (1815-1868) was a politician who served as congressman, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, governor of Georgia, and secretary of the treasury.
