The collection consists of three letters: dated Wasala, Georgia, November 29, 1863, "to Mr. Harless," signed "Elijah Carley," mentioning Generals Hardee and Bragg, losing troops and prisoners, and hopes of pursuing Yankees across the Tennessee River; dated Crawfordville, Georgia, January 17, 1864, "Dear Linton," signed "Alexander Stephens," regarding going to Richmond; dated Headquarters, Cavalry Corps, Covington, August 8, 1864, to "Captain," signed "Joseph Wheeler, Major General," regarding Generals Iverson and Allen, foraging for food, and the need for horse shoes.
