The collection consists of two items: original manuscript Some reminiscences of early life and times, by Reverend Henry Netwon, regarding recollections of his childhood from 1830-1842 in Athens, Georgia; Papers of the Athens Historical Society, volume two, published in 1979, which includes Some reminiscences of early life and times.

Biographical / historical:

Henry Newton (1823-1913), born in Athens, was licensed to the ministry of the Presbyterian Church in 1845 by the Hopewell (now Athens) Presbytery. He served in the Athens area until around 1877.
