The collection consists of administrative records for the Georgia Academy of Science.

Biographical / historical:

The Georgia Academy of Science is an organization dedicated to the promotion of science education and the fostering of scientific research in the state of Georgia. Organized in 1922 and incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1953, the academy encompasses all aspects of science and that interest is expressed through member participation in one or more of eight sections: biological sciences; chemistry; earth and atmospheric sciences; physics, math, computer science, engineering, and technology; biomedical sciences; philosophy and history of science; science education; and anthropology.

The Academy holds an annual meeting and has published the Georgia Journal of Science since 1977, and prior to that the Bulletin of the Georgia Academy of Science.
