Scope and content:

The collection consists of thirteen photographs of the State Normal School dating from the early to mid-1920s. One of the photographs is a panoramic class photograph.

Biographical / historical:

Mae Chunn was a student of the State Normal School in Athens, Georgia, graduating in 1925. She married James Lonnie Jones and lived in Metter, Georgia until her death in 1997 at the age of 90. She taught first grade for many years in Candler County and retired in 1969.

The State Normal School was a teachers college in Athens that operated from 1891 until it was absorbed by the University of Georgia's Department of Education in 1932.
