Scope and content:

The collection consists of photographs, clippings, programs, and track shoes belonging to Robert "Bob" Hornbuckle. Materials primarily date from the early 1950's.

Biographical / historical:

Robert Bruce Hornbuckle (1930-2008) was a University of Georgia student who was a member of the track team and football team in 1950 and 1951. After graduation, he enslited in the Air Force and was a pilot during the Korean War. After returning to civiliar life in 1957, he opened Bob's Shoe Store in downtown Valdosta, Georgia, which he operated until the late 1960's.
