Scope and content:

This collection consists of a University High School rollbook. It dates from 1862 to 1863.

Biographical / historical:

Originally called the Collegiate Institute, the school went through several name changes but by 1862 had come to be known as the University High School. In 1863 the school had 103 student enrolled. That year University officials noted that the college expected to enroll ten to fifteen of the high school students once they had completed their course of study in the secondary school.
