Scope and content:

The collection consists of two gouache paintings of campus buildings at the University of Georgia: the library, constructed in 1905, and the Academic Building.

Biographical / historical:

Wilbur G. Kurtz, Sr. (1882-1967) was an artist and historian most famous for his role as technical advisor and set designer for the film Gone with the Wind (1939). His knowledge of the Battle of Atlanta made him valuable to the production. He would do similar work for Song of the South (1946) and The Great Locomotive Chase (1956).
