Background

Scope and content:

This collection consists primarily of papers and records of the University of Georgia's Student Government Association. These papers include meeting minutes, rules on governance, and correspondence. In addition, there are several scrapbooks containing photographs of the association's events from the early 2000's.

Biographical / historical:

The Student Government Association (SGA) of the University of Georgia is the organized voice for each student of the University of Georgia. SGA strives to protect students' rights and to advocate on behalf of students' welfare in the university community. The organization also serves as a liason between students and the administrative bodies on campus.

SGA is organized into three branches: Executive, Legislative and Judicial. Different branches work together in order to achieve the goals of SGA for the academic year.
