Scope and content:

The collection contains administrative papers from Cameron Fincher's tenure at the University of Georgia. Included is correspondence, memoranda, meeting papers, and photographs. Committees and boards of note are the Governor's Committee on Postsecondary Education (GCPSE), the Study Committee on Non-Traditional Students, the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), and the Regents Administrative Development Program (RADP).

Biographical / historical:

Cameron Fincher served as a faculty member within the University System of Georgia for fifty-four years. He worked over forty years at the University of Georgia's Institute of Higher Education (IHE), which is now named the Louise McBee Institute of Higher Education (MIHE). As IHE director at the University of Georgia, from 1969 to 1999, Dr. Fincher worked with over two hundred different institutions of higher education at all levels.

In 1986 the Georgia General Assembly passed a resolution recognizing Dr. Fincher's contributions to higher education and to the state of Georgia. His teaching and research interests covered a plethora of areas in the fields of higher education and psychology. He was also instrumental in founding the journal, Between the Forums and supporting it throughout its formative years.
