Of special note are the circa 1910 University of Georgia felt scrapbook, the booklet on rural home design by the noted Athens architect of the Craftsman period, Fred J. Orr, and the eye-catching illustrated broadside on fly control.
- Biographical / historical:
-
John Quitman Harvey and his wife, Mattielu Branan Harvey, were both graduates of the State Normal School in Athens. After graduation in 1910, Mr. Harvey taught school for some 15 years in Early, Miller and Talbot Counties in Georgia. His collection suggests that he was much interested in progressive causes of the day, particularly concerning improvement in education, sanitation, health and rural life.
