Biographical / historical:

The University of Georgia (UGA) is the largest institution of higher learning in the state of Georgia. It is located in Athens, Georgia, approximately 70 miles northeast of Atlanta and was the first state-chartered university in the United States. In 1951, UGA celebrated the sesquicentennial of the year (1801) that its doors were first opened to students.
