The Patricia L. Puckett Papers contain research files, correspondence, articles, and printed materials. The papers document Puckett's advocacy for people with disabilities and her efforts to influence the policies that affect their lives.

Biographical / historical:

Pat Puckett is the Executive Director of the Statewide Independent Living Council (the SILC) of Georgia, a non-profit organization, founded in 1995, with the vision of equal participation of people with disabilities in their communities. Pat graduated from Valdosta State College in 1972 and attended graduate school in Public Administration at the University of Georgia. She was the first person with a disability to graduate from Leadership DeKalb in 1998; in 2003, she received their Outstanding Member Award. Pat serves on the board of Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs, a non-profit company with the mission of developing and sustaining small business. She is an active member of many state and national organizations working to accomplish inclusive disability policy and services. Pat serves as secretary of the board for the National Council on Independent Living.
