Scope and content:

Merritt was involved in a variety of organizations, and often held prominent club positions. Of particular note are the materials related to the Center for the American Woman and Politics at Rutgers University and the 1972 Pocono Manor conference that Merritt attended. It was at this conference that Jeane Kirkpatrick interviewed Merritt for her first book, Political Woman. For more information on this conference, see the Reminiscences in the Personal series.
