Historical Note

John Wier was a Confederate soldier, farmer, and sheriff of Clarke County for twenty years.

William Henderson was a convict working as a miner at the Durham Coal Mine on Lookout Mountain.

Scope and Content

This collection contains a postcard from Sheriff John W. Wier of Athens, Georgia advertising a reward for the capture of two escaped convicts, William Henderson and Joe Haney, as well as a physical description of them.
