Historical Note

WAGA-TV-5 is a television station from Atlanta, Ga. that was a CBS affiliate from 1949-1993 after which it became a Fox affliated station. This collection contains 4 news award entries from 1967 for sports coverage of the Masters golf tournament, a spot news story of exhumations, a planned event coverage of Otis Redding's funeral, and a best newsfilm of an Atlanta warehouse fire. WSAV-TV is a television station from Savannah, Ga. that has gone back and forth from being an NBC and ABC news affiliate, having started in 1956. This collections contains 2 AP news award entries, one for for a news story in depth regarding a marina fire in Thunderbolt, Ga., and the other for best newsfilm of a helicopter crash. It also includes biographies for the reporters in their news center. WSB-TV is a television station from Atlanta, GA. that is an NBC affiliate, started in 1948. This collection contains one entry to the AP news award for their coverage of the Atlanta Negro school crisis.

Scope and Content

This collection consists of three sets of AP news award entries from 1967 from WAGA-TV and WSB-TV from Atlanta, Ga. and WSAV-TV from Savannah, Ga., with a biography of WSAV newsroom reporters.
