Historical Note

The State Normal School for women opened in 1891 in a university-owned building and later moved to its own campus, in the section of Athens now known as Normaltown.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of a notebook from the model sewing class of the State Normal School that was kept by Katherine G. Dearing of Athens during the fall of 1914. It contains many notes and outlines on procedures, stitches, styles, and methods as well as examples of cloth and particular stitches.
