Collection Description

Historical Note

Clemmie Montag was the daughter of the late Lena Fox, the inspiration for the fictional Miss Daisy. The elderly Fox was visiting her daughter when she backed her car over a driveway wall and into a neighbor's yard, prompting her family to hire a chauffeur to drive her on her many errands.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of one letter addressed to Mrs. Harris dated March 3, 1951 from "Rose." The letter briefly relates happenings around Atlanta to the Harrises who were vacationing at the Hotel Nacional in Havana. It mentions the illness of Clemmic [sic.] Montag, social club activities, and the early appearance of spring-like weather.
