Collection Description

Historical Note

Aubrey Land (1912-1993) served as a professor of history and chairman of the History Department at the University of Maryland from 1960 to 1972. From 1972 until his death, he held to the position of Research Professor of History at the University of Georgia. Land was active in the American Association of University Professors and served as interim editor of the Georgia Historical Quarterly (1980-1981).

Scope and Content

This collection consists primarily of correspondence documenting Aubrey Land's professional career both at the University of Maryland and University of Georgia. Topics include publications and research, the American History Association program committee, and administration and operations of the University of Georgia's History Department.
