University High School was located on the present site of the Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, Georgia. Willie C. was possibly a student at the University High School, since the University of Georgia suspended classes from October 1862 until January 1866 due to the War Between the States.
The collection consists of two letters: dated Athens, May 3, 1863, "Dear Mother," signed "Willie"; dated Athens, May 9, 1863, "My Dear Mother," signed "Willie C.," (last name undecipherable). Letters regard why Willie hadn't written, parties, girls of Lucy Cobb Institute, church, and items he would like his mother to send.
