Alfred Holt Colquitt (1829-1894) was born in Walton County, Georgia. Colquitt was a lawyer, Confederate officer, U.S. Representative (1852-1854), Georgia Governor (1876-1882), and a U.S. Senator (1883-1894).

The collection consists of eleven volumes of scrapbooks relating to Alfred Holt Colquitt, mainly compiled by Colquitt's secretary Isaac Wheeler Avery, from 1853-1894. The scrapbooks include clippings, with a few letters, primarily pertaining to Colquitt's terms as Governor (1876-1882), but also containing obituaries of Colquitt and letters of condolence.
