Thomas," regarding request for a furlough (furlough approved on reverse side of letter); written on W. C., Virginia Midland & G. S. R. R. Co. letterhead, dated August 25, 1879, "Dear sir," signed "G.L. Thomas" (signature illegible), regarding the deposit of Thomas' furlough.
