Zachariah Cox, land speculator, was involved in the Tennessee Land Company which purchased 4,000,000 acres of land in the region of Tennessee as part of the Yazoo land purchase in 1790.
The collection consists of a letter to Edward Telfair, Georgia Governor and John Milton, Secretary of State, from Zachariah Cox, dated January 13, 1790 regarding the Tennessee Land Company. The letter certifies that Stephen Heard, William Downs, Henry Candler, John F. Gardner, Daniel Gaines, Middleton Woods, William Cox, and Thomas Carr are associates in the Tennessee Land Company, an investment company which purchased Yazoo land.
