Jefferson Davis (1808-1889) was a Mexican War hero, U.S. senator from Mississippi, U.S. secretary of war and president of the Confederate States of America throughout the American Civil War.

The collection consists of one letter: dated Beauvoir, Mississippi, October 2, 1888, "My dear Mrs. Cobb," signed "Jefferson Davis," regarding allegations that prisoners were starved during confinement at Andersonville Prison, and supplies sent to the prison from General Howell Cobb's plantation.
