Collection Description

Historical Note

Spartan Communications, Inc. was a company based in Spartanburg, South Carolina founded in 1947 by Walter J. Brown as Spartan Radiocasting Company. They owned and operated WSPA-TV as the city's flagship station from 1956 to 2000 when Spartan merged with Media General of Richmond, VA.

Scope and Content

This collection contains photographs of WSPA TV studios in various stages, a script from a 25th anniversary program, and some station ephemera.
