Collection Description

Historical Note

The Childs Street School was an elementary school in the Athens Public School System in the first half of the 20th Century.

This scrapbook belonged to Paul Thomas Stephenson, Sr., an Athens, Georgia native who worked as a draftsman with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Mr. Stephenson attended the Childs Street School for seventh and eighth grades in 1950-1951, when it was called Athens Junior High School. He was not the creator of the scrapbook but was interested in local history, and it was donated by his son Dr. Todd Stephenson for further research.

Scope and Content

This collection contains a scrapbook with newspaper clippings, brochures, and examples of activities that took place during the 1934-1935 school year.
