The Cedartown Textile strike of 1951, and the Aragon Mill strike in Rome, Georgia occurred at about the same time and were followed closely by the Cedartown Standard newspaper. The TWUA (Textile Worklers Union of America) struck both mills for several months, and the struggle was followed in depth by the newspaper, who became involved in a scuffle between a group of local businessmen and the newspaper editors themselves.
The Cedartown Strike scrapbook collection consists of a scrapbook of newspaper clippings and handouts mostly related to the textile mills strikes of 1951 in Cedartown and Rome, Georgia. It also includes clippings from the 1937 Hershey plant strike and a variety of pro-labor poetry and prose.
