For further information, see the article "Margaret Mitchell" at New Georgia Encyclopedia.
The collection consists of a letter from Margaret Mitchell to Louisville, Georgia insurance agent James B. Polhill. She is apparently responding to a piece of fan mail he sent previously. She responds his request for an autograph and his comparison of her to "Miss Melly" (referring to Melanie Hamilton Wilkes from Gone with the Wind). Accompanying this letter is a follow up letter from Polhill thanking her for her generosity. Also included is a newspaper clipping from 1967 August 31 entitled "Louisville's Polhill Has Devoted Life to CSRA [Central Savannah River Area] Growth".
