In 1938, Mrs. Elmer Lampe organized a serious study group for women in Athens, which would later be known as the Wednesday Study Club. The club met twice monthly and at each meeting a presentation or talk was given either by a club member or a guest speaker. Some of the topics covered by the study club include gardening, the state of the local library, book reviews, religion, American art, poetry, international relations, music, and geography. The club also held an annual Christmas program and occassionally organized civic or social outings to view exhibits or tour historic buildings.
This collection consists of meeting minutes, membership lists, bylaws, yearbooks, notes, and correspondence documenting the Wednesday Study Club from 1939 to 2022.
