Private Charles S. Missemer served in Company B, 2nd Regiment, Missouri Volunteers during the Spanish-American War.
The collection consists of twelve letters written to friends, Fred Snyder and his wife, Fannie, in Rochester, Missouri. The letters relate Missemer's experience from boot camp in St. Louis to Camp Thomas at Chickamauga Battlefield in Lytle, Georgia, to Camp Hamilton, Lexington, Kentucky, to Camp Churchmen and Camp Nelson both in Albany, Georgia.
