Valda Livingstone Adams, Jr. was born on August 11, 1916 to Valda L. Adams, Sr. and Rosa Adams, and married Gladys Beck. He was a journalist, World War II veteran, and Pearl Harbor survivor. He wrote for many newspapers throughout his life including the Cohran Journal, New York Times, Daily News, and was also involved with several television and radio programs. Adams died February 12, 1983.
This collection consists of correspondence, articles, short stories, notes, chronicles, and photographs. Much of the correspondence, articles and short stories were written during or about World War II. Several of the letters are from NBC and CBS regarding making television shows out of these stories.
This collection has not yet been processed, but the original order has been maintained. The donor assigned each item an identifaction number, which informs the order in which materials are listed here. A key to the numbers is located in a binder in carton 3 which provides dates and further information on the items.
