William Harris Crawford (1772-1834) was a two-time U.S. presidential nominee (1816 and 1824), U.S. senator (November 7, 1807 to March 23, 1813), cabinet member under two presidents (Secretary of War beginning in August 1815. He transferred to the Treasury in October 1816, and served under Presidents Madison and James Monroe until 1825), foreign diplomat (Minister to France 1813-1815), and judge of the northern circuit court (1827-1834).

The collection consists of papers of William Harris Crawford from 1817-1833. Papers include two circulars from the Treasury Department with Crawford's signature; three handwritten letters signed by Crawford; a paper signed by Crawford and B. W. Crowninshield appointing Benjamin Homans as Secretary to the Navy Pension Fund.
