The collection consists of one letter: dated Charleston, May 2, 1787, addressed to Jacob Weed at Point Peter, St. Mary's River, Georgia, from John Ferrie, regarding 500 acres at Point Peter, St. Mary's River, Georgia that Ferrie "would be willing to give up his claim to" if Weed would help Ferrie with what he believe an outrageous price that Weed's partner James Finley had charged for a survey. On the reverse side, undated and unsigned, is a drafted letter (probably copied onto clean paper before mailing), beginning "Since I wrote you last I have received a letter from Mr. Pengree who informs me that the Spaniards pretend to hold and protect the Negroes on acct of their being British property …"
