Dean E. Dreyer was an educator, interior decorator, serviceman, and world traveler. He grew up in Dublin, Georgia. In the 1930s as an art instructor at Commercial High School in Atlanta he became noted for creating a course on everyday living which was designed to teach etiquette, grooming, and developing personality. Dreyer also served on active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945.
The collection consists of letters he wrote while serving in the Navy and traveling the world. There are also slides and photographs he took on his travels. In addition, the collection includes a few letters from other people, clippings, school and military papers, a high school scrapbook from Dublin High School (Ga.) from 1927, writings, family photographs, and other material.
