Abstract: The collection consists of store ledgers, a gold mining operation ledger (Child's Ditch), a variety of post office record books for Sautee, one for Lynch Post Office, and a few for Asbestos Post Office. Postmasters mentioned for Asbestos are Enoch B. Craven and Simpson B. Logan, J. A. Hood for Lynch and for Sautee, Alfred Perkins Williams and Robert A. Williams. There are also product catalogs, store-related items, correspondence and pamphlets. |
The Old Sautee Store, in operation since circa 1872, and located at the intersection of Highways 17 and 255 in White County, Georgia, served the community as a source of general merchandise and from circa 1894 to the mid-1900s as a post office.
