Stephen E. Draper, was an attorney in the Atlanta area who led the Draper Group, which sought effective management and protection of water resources in Georgia. As a water policy advisor to the governor, Draper was responsible for analysis of statewide water resources and uses in Georgia, the development and implementation of programs for public dialogue on water issues, and the development of proposed policies and regulations. He served the state in a number of capacities as a representative to the Joint Comprehensive Water Plan Study Committee, member of the Clean Water Initiative, and chair of the Georgia Water Advisory Council.
At the University of Georgia, Draper founded the Stephen E. Draper Center and Archives for the Waters of Georgia in History and Law, a comprehensive collection of books, manuscripts, and other materials that document water resource management history, law, and policy.
This collection consists of the papers of Stephen E. Draper concerning water resource management in the state of Georgia, as well as internationally. Also included is materials related to Draper's professional career and the creation of the Stephen E. Draper Center and Archives for the Waters of Georgia in History and Law..
