Helen Methvin Ussery (1903-2001) was born in Eastman, Georgia. She attended Agnes Scott College, graduated from Shorter College, and did graduate work at Columbia University. She married R. Guyton Ussery, they moved to Birmingham, Alabama where Helen taught in the Jefferson and St. Clair County school systems.
The collection consists of a manuscript entitled "History of Eastman," written by Helen Methvin Ussery.
