Yousuf Karsh (1908-2002) was an American Canadian photographer known for his portraits of important personages. For further information, see the article "Yousuf Karsh" at Encyclopaedia Britannica.

Erskine Caldwell (1903-1987) was born in White Oak, Georgia, and died in Paradise Valley, Arizona. He was an American author, most famous for his books about the South that centered on issues of poverty, racism, and social issues. He wrote God's Little Acre and Tobacco Road.
