The Pioneer Club was formed by the first women on the University of Georgia campus. It had become an honor society by 1961. The Demosthenian Society was constituted on February 19, 1803, for the promotion of extemporaneous speaking. It is named after the Greek orator, statesman, and champion of democracy, Demosthenes.
The collection consists of one poster reading: "Beauty and the Beast Pioneer Club - Demosthenian will debate tonite "Women in Politics" Memorial Hall. 8 o'clock. Music - refreshments".
