Erskine Caldwell (1903-1987) was an American author born in White Oak, Georgia.

The collection consists of correspondence from Erskine Caldwell to his editors (1952-1960). Correspondence regard travel plans, Caldwell's novels and current projects. In a letter to Arthur H. Thornhill from Victor Webright, dated February 16, 1953, Weybright critisizes Caldwell's The Bastard, and writes that it should not be released at this time.
