Robert R. Martin was Colonel with the 114th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.
The collection consists of correspondence from Colonel Robert R. Martin during his service in World War II, 1944-1945. Correspondences are written mainly to his wife, Mary Belle Martin, and a few are addressed to Jane Martin and Robert N. Martin. Written from France, Germany, and Austria, letters contain detailed descriptions of Martin's surroundings, local people, administrative or military duties, and condition of his unit. Letters also detail the problems of raising a family while separated.
