Erskine Caldwell (1903–1987) was an author who grew up in the American South. He is most famous for his novels Tobacco Road and God's Little Acre, which won him critical acclaim because of his writings about poverty, racism and social problems in the South.

The collection consists of a short story titled Crown-Fire by Erskine Caldwell. Written in the first person, the story recalls young passion and love. Page six contains Caldwell's autograph.
