Byron Herbert Reece (1917-1958), a poet and writer, was born in Blairsville, Georgia. He attended Young Harris College and went on to publish several works of poetry and fiction. He received numerous awards including the Georgia Distinguished Writers Award and the Guggenheim Award.
The collection consists of material relating to Byron Herbert Reece. The papers contain personal correspondence from Reece to the Greears, reviews of Reece's works, newspaper clippings, and two photographs of Reece. The collection also contains personal correspondence of the Greear's relating to their involvement in the Quill Club at Young Harris College, and their interest in the Byron Herbert Reece Memorial Association.
