Historical Note
Rose Thompson (1930- ), teacher and author, born in Greene County, Georgia. Worked in middle Georgia for the Farm Security Administration as a home supervisor in the 1930s and 1940s. Collected stories told to her by African American families she visited and published some in "Foxfire" magazine. In 1982, a collection of her works were published in Hush child! Can't You Hear the Music?
Scope and Content
The collection consists of correspondence, typescripts of stories of folklore used in Foxfire magazine; typescript of Hush Child! Can't You Hear the Music?, a book containing stories she collected, and photographs, mostly of African Americans in middle Georgia.
