Collection Description

Scope and Content

The collection consists of correspondence from James Williamson to his family from 1944-1946. Williamson writes from Camp Peary, Virginia, New Port, Rhode Island, Little Creek, Virginia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and aboard the U.S.S. Chicago. Correspondence regards camp life and training, radar school, and sea duty. The collection also contains photographs of Electronics and Combat Information Center personnel taken aboard the U.S.S. Chicago in Tokyo Harbor, and additional photographs of American carrier ships in Tokyo in 1945.
